MANITOBA UNDERDOGS RESCUE RECEIVES LARGEST DONATION IN ORGANIZATIONS HISTORY
WINNIPEG, MB.– July 9, 2015 – Manitoba Underdogs Rescue is thrilled to announce that it has received a $26,000 donation from Sunova Credit Union, the largest donation in the organizations history.
This donation, raised during the 10th annual Sunova Golf Classic, will fund the purchase of the “Sunova Canine Cruiser”, a rescue van to transport injured, sick, and stray animals to the rescue’s network of foster families.
“This is by far the single biggest donation to our organization,” says Manitoba Underdogs Executive Director Jessica Hansen. “It’s a game changer.”
“The Sunova Canine Cruiser will allow us to greatly increase our capacity to run spay and neuter programs in remote communities, and bring dogs into care. Caring for sick animals requires a lot of transportation. Sick dogs like Percy, the dog blinded by hair dye last winter currently in our care, require numerous trips to the vet and specialists. Having a vehicle means that we no longer have to wait for an available volunteer for transport. We can make sure that these dogs get to where they need to be quickly and efficiently. ”
Sunova Credit Union has 12 branches and over 30,000 members throughout Winnipeg and rural Manitoba. Included in Sunova’s nearly 200 employees are two 4-year-old St. Bernards, Gallagher and Zeus, who work as brand ambassadors and greeters in their branches.
“Supporting an animal charity in this way was an easy decision for us, and we are happy to be a part of the amazing work that Manitoba Underdogs does,” says Sunova Credit Union President & CEO, Ed Bergen. “Dogs obviously play a huge role in making Sunova what we are, not just in terms of our branding but our corporate culture as well. Our St. Bernard’s are members of the Sunova family and we wanted to partner with an organization that truly has the best interest of animals in mind.”
