PERCY THE BLIND DOG FINDS HIS FUR-EVER HOME
WINNIPEG, MB.– August 27, 2015 – Percy, the partially blind dog currently in care with Manitoba Underdogs Rescue has finally found his forever home.
Percy, a one-year-old puppy, was surrendered into the care of Manitoba Underdogs Rescue on February 9, 2015 after suffering abuse at the hands of his previous owner’s child. Hair dye was deliberately rubbed into his eyes causing him immense pain and blindness. Percy was subsequently diagnosed with Corneal Endothelial Dystrophy, a condition that causes thickening of the cornea and fluid build-up within the eye. On July 23 his left eye was removed.
“Now that his eye problems are finally behind him, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that Percy has found his forever home!” says Manitoba Underdogs Executive Director Jessica Hansen. “With all of the media attention he’s gotten we had an overwhelming number of prospective adopters. Based on how happy Percy is we know that we’ve chosen the right family, and that he will get all of the love and attention that he deserves.
Although Percy’s left eye was removed, he has maintained a significant amount of sight in his right eye. He is adjusting extremely well after surgery and even has a new one-eyed cat brother named Bill!
Manitoba Underdogs Rescue is extremely grateful for the public’s support of Percy over the last 6 months.
“Percy’s recovery and health is a direct result of our donor’s generosity,” says Hansen. “Without their support his future wouldn’t be nearly as bright it is today. From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank everyone that helped in his recovery. He’s a special guy and we’re thrilled to see him finally get his happy ending!”
