On May 5th and 6th, we were in Sagkeeng First Nation for our second mobile spay/neuter clinic of 2018. Our team worked together with the assistance of The Ark Project, and veterinary services were provided by Hudson Reykdal Veterinary Services. Over the two days, 50 dogs in the community were spayed/neutered, and an additional 42 were vaccinated. During this clinic, we were made aware of 14 dogs who needed rescue, all of whom came into our care. We took on a number of expensive medical cases in welcoming our new Underdogs, and as a result have had to go on an intake freeze. To find out how to help us with these vet bills, see our donate page. Every donation over $20 receives a tax receipt. We are also still seeking fosters to be a part of our new Underdogs’ journeys. Apply to foster here.
We want to send a big thank you to our sponsors, without whom this clinic would not have been possible, Sunova Credit Union and Brio Insurance. Sagkeeng Anicinabe band also committed to making financial contributions to the clinic, as well as providing amazing meals for the hardworking volunteers. Thank you also to our transport volunteers who came out each day to drive the dogs who were coming into rescue to their new lives in Winnipeg. To our volunteers, thank you so much for giving up your weekend for this cause, and for doing such a great job of helping this clinic to run so smoothly. All of you are phenomenal and did amazing work, and we are so proud to have you on the MUR team. Last but not least, thank you to the community of Sagkeeng First Nation for being so welcoming. We love working with you, and we look forward to working with you again in the future. We hope to be back soon!
